Sagrada Familia
The Temple of Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia began in 1882 and is now one of Barcelona's most popular tourist attractions. It is an unfinished masterpiece by Antoni Gaudí who worked on the temple through the last forty years of his life. The neo-Gothic style of the Temple is Gaudí's trademark modernist style, which was based on forms found in nature. When finished, the church will accommodate 13,000 people and will have a total of 18 towers.

Fun Facts

• As a joke about the prolonged construction of the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí used to say, "My client is not in a hurry."


• You can visit Antoni Gaudí's crypt within the Sagrada Familia.


• Construction on the Temple is expected to continue until 2041.
