The Royal Drury Lane Theatre
After rebuilding the theater on four different occasions in the same spot, Royal Drury Lane owns the title of the oldest theater in Britain.  The theater that lives today opened its doors with the production of Hamlet on October 10, 1812, and is still entertaining, with some of its most recent performances such as The Producers, and a musical version of The Lord of The Rings.

Fun Facts

  • Drury Lane is London’s most haunted theater.
  • The “fireproof” theater was built in 1794 by Henry Holland.  It burnt down in 1809, and was redesigned most recently by Benjamin Wyatt.
  • A historic backstage tour includes the Royal Box, the Royal entrance, lifting gear, and much more.
